Pupils fabricate story of friend leaving school, spark panic - police
Investigations found that the allegedly missing pupil had never left the school compound but was hiding in a toilet.

KULIM - Two female pupils sparked concern among school authorities after claiming that their 11-year-old friend had left school without permission and boarded a motorcycle with an unknown man, prompting a missing person report today.
Kulim police chief Supt Syamsul Sinring said investigations found that the allegedly missing pupil had never left the school compound but was hiding in a toilet.
"The pupil arrived at school at 7.20am after being dropped off by her older sister and attended the school assembly at 8am. During the assembly, she played with her friend's hair bun, prompting the friend to pull her headscarf until the inner cap fell off.
"Angered by her friend's actions, the pupil went to the toilet to fix her headscarf and continued hiding there instead of entering the classroom," he said in a statement today.
Syamsul said the girl's friend, together with another pupil, later informed a teacher that she had left the school compound with an unknown man on a motorcycle at 8.20am.
"However, the pupil later admitted to making up the story out of spite towards her friend. The information that her friend went out with a man was also untrue," he said. - BERNAMA
