GUA MUSANG - A 60-year-old man who had been missing for two days was found dead after the Toyota Hilux pickup truck he was driving is believed to have skidded and plunged into a ravine about 100 metres deep along Jalan Ladang Pos Pulat.

The victim's last 'live location' on Sunday afternoon led his colleagues to the area, where they found the pickup truck lying far below the slope on Tuesday.

Gua Musang District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the accident was believed to have occurred on Sunday, two days before the victim and his vehicle were found.

He said based on information from the victim's wife, the man's 'live location' was last detected around the scene on Sunday afternoon.

"On Tuesday, the victim's colleagues went to the last 'live location' to search for him before finding his Toyota Hilux at the bottom of the slope.

"Initial investigations found that the victim was believed to have been driving the vehicle before it skidded and plunged into the ravine while descending the hill," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Sik said there were no individuals believed to have witnessed the incident, causing the accident to go unnoticed by the public until the victim's vehicle was found.

He said the victim was found unconscious at the scene and was pronounced dead.

"The victim's body was then brought up from the scene with the assistance of Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) personnel before being sent to the Forensic Unit of Gua Musang Hospital for a post-mortem," he said.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He added that further investigations are underway to determine the actual cause of the accident and the circumstances leading to the incident.

"Members of the public who witnessed the incident or have any information are urged to come forward to assist investigations by contacting 09-912 1222," he said.
