Daughter: Nurse stabbed six times had reported husband's death threats
The victim had allegedly lodged a police report after her husband threatened to kill her if she went ahead with their divorce

KOTA BHARU – A nurse who was allegedly stabbed six times by her husband had previously lodged a police report after he allegedly threatened to kill her if she went ahead with their divorce.
The victim’s eldest daughter, who wished to be known as Nik, 19, said her 44-year-old mother and her 52-year-old husband had been married for about six years and were in the process of ending their marriage.
According to Nik, the couple had also been out of contact for about three weeks before Monday’s incident.
“My mother wanted a divorce, but he (her husband) did not. He wanted my mother to return to him. My mother had been threatened with death if she left him.
“That was why my mother lodged a police report previously over the threats,” she said when met at her home today.
The alleged threats resurfaced after the woman was seriously injured in an attack at their home in Kampung Padang Lepai, Kadok.
The suspect was subsequently remanded for seven days to assist in police investigations after allegedly stabbing his wife six times.
The victim is believed to have sustained stab wounds to her body and neck and is receiving treatment at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II).
Nik said she was shocked when she learnt that her mother had allegedly been attacked, as she had only just returned home after meeting her mother and 78-year-old grandmother at about 8.30pm on Monday.
“I arrived home, then my grandmother called and told me that my mother had been stabbed. I immediately returned to my mother’s house, which was only about 200 metres away,” she said.
She said she found her mother sitting near the door when she arrived, covered in blood and feeling dizzy.
Nik immediately contacted the emergency services before ensuring that her six- and 12-year-old siblings were safe.
She said her 12-year-old brother remained traumatised after witnessing the incident and had intervened during the attack.
“My brother managed to push my stepfather, causing the knife to fall and break. After that, he fled. My mother suffered six stab wounds, including to the neck, chest and three to the abdomen.
“Despite being stabbed six times, my mother remained strong. She managed to tell me to get her identity card and other belongings while waiting for the ambulance to arrive,” she said.
Nik also claimed that her stepfather was unemployed and had previously been involved in two drug-related cases.
She said her mother, who works as a nurse at a clinic, remains under treatment at HRPZ II.
