Najib briefed on house arrest SOP
Prisons Department informs former prime minister of details covering visits, security and monitoring of his movements

KUALA LUMPUR – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been briefed on the standard operating procedures (SOP) for implementing his house arrest.
Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU), Prime Minister’s Department director-general Datuk Zamri Misman said the briefing was conducted after the Prisons Department received notification about the implementation of the arrangement.
“The Prisons Department has already informed Datuk Seri Najib of the details,” he told reporters after a media briefing with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said at Parliament on Wednesday.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar was reported on Sept 19 as saying that the Prisons Department was expected to issue the SOP for implementing house arrest involving the former Pekan Member of Parliament soon.
He said the SOP would cover matters such as visits, security and monitoring Najib’s movements.
Meanwhile, Azalina declined to comment further when asked about the house arrest process involving the former Umno president.
She said the matter should be referred to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh.
The Umno information chief also declined to comment when asked about the latest developments in fundraising efforts to secure Najib’s release.
