Klang records Selangor’s highest API reading at 182
Haze worsens across several areas, with social media users reporting reduced visibility in Kuala Lumpur and Subang

SHAH ALAM – Klang recorded Selangor’s highest air pollutant index (API) reading at 182 as of 6pm on Wednesday, followed by Johan Setia at 180 and Shah Alam at 168.
According to Department of Environment (DOE) monitoring data, Banting recorded an API reading of 165, while Petaling Jaya registered 160.
Kuala Selangor recorded the lowest reading among the six locations at 98, indicating moderate air quality, while the other five locations fell within the unhealthy category.
Klang’s reading rose from 173 at 8am to 182 at 6pm, reflecting a deterioration in air quality over the period.
The worsening haze has also prompted social media users to share their experiences of reduced visibility in several areas, including Kuala Lumpur and Subang.
Threads user @adiazwari_ said landmarks such as the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) and Kuala Lumpur Tower were barely visible from Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, in a post shared on Wednesday.
Another user, @caramel_mychiatto_, shared a view from the 30th floor of a building in Subang, saying nearby buildings had become difficult to see through the haze.
Under the DOE’s API classification, readings of 101 to 200 indicate unhealthy air quality, while readings between 51 and 100 are classified as moderate.
The Education Ministry had said that schools would operate as usual on Thursday despite the elevated API readings in several areas.
The public is advised to monitor the DOE’s official API updates and follow announcements from the relevant authorities as haze conditions continue to develop.
