‘Mesut Ozil’ Myvi submerged in Pangkor floods
Nine areas were hit by flash floods after two hours of heavy rain, but no temporary relief centres were opened

LUMUT – Flash floods that hit nine areas on Pulau Pangkor on Sunday also submerged the Perodua Myvi that went viral after former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil rode in it.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir shared the incident in a video while inspecting flood-hit areas, including his own house.
“The car that Mesut Ozil and Bilal Erdogan once rode in was also submerged today (yesterday).
“My house was flooded too due to heavy rain. Although efforts had been made, including building large drains, the heavy rain combined with high tide caused the flooding,” he said in the video recorded on Sunday.

The Manjung Civil Defence Force said on Monday that the affected areas included Kampung Sungai Pinang Besar, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Teluk Kecil, Kampung Hussin, Teluk Gedung, Kampung Tengah, Rumah Murah, Taman Pangkor Mutiara and Taman Sri Pangkor.
The flash floods followed two hours of continuous heavy rain, but no temporary relief centres were opened.
The Myvi, nicknamed “King”, went viral on social media in May when Zambry personally drove Ozil and a delegation from Turkiye around Pulau Pangkor.
During the visit, they also stopped at Masjid Al-Khairiyah, also known as the Mosque of a thousand prayers (doa), and Masjid Al-Badr, known as the 1,000 Selawat Mosque.
