DAP reps must meet KPIs to remain GE16 candidates, says Anthony Loke

IPOH – DAP elected representatives must meet key performance indicators (KPIs) set by their respective state party organisations to remain eligible for consideration as candidates in the 16th General Election (GE16).
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party closely monitors the performance of its elected representatives in Perak to ensure they fulfil their responsibilities to the public and the party.
He said the monitoring system, implemented under the leadership of Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming, covers several key areas, including community service, constituency work, party activities and efforts to strengthen the party.
“The most important thing is their presence in their constituencies and their active involvement on the ground. These are all KPIs set for our elected representatives.
“If anyone is less active, we will ensure changes are made. We constantly remind them that poor performance increases the likelihood of them not being nominated as candidates,” he said.
He was speaking at a press conference after officiating the 24th Perak DAP Convention at the Ipoh Convention Centre here on Sunday.
Anthony said the monitoring system appeared to be effective, with DAP elected representatives in Perak generally remaining active in carrying out their duties and responsibilities in their respective constituencies.
He said sustained pressure through performance evaluations was important to ensure every elected representative strives to provide the best possible service and fulfil the mandate entrusted to them by the people.
Anthony added that performance monitoring was also practised by DAP state organisations nationwide, although the methods and level of scrutiny varied according to the systems adopted by each state.
“Every state has its own monitoring system, including those across the country. However, what I highlighted about Perak DAP is that its monitoring is particularly strict.
“I can see the impact, as our elected representatives are active on the ground. Where shortcomings are identified, we ensure they improve their performance,” he said.
Asked about seat allocation among Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties for the upcoming Melaka State Election, Anthony briefly said the matter had already been settled.
