Married woman in sexy nightwear nabbed in khalwat with single man

KLUANG - A married woman was caught in close proximity (khalwat) with a single man at a homestay in the district in the early hours of Tuesday.

The pair, aged in their 40s and 30s respectively, were detained by Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) enforcement officers during a check at about 1.05am.

In a statement, JAINJ said the random and periodic inspection was carried out after officers monitored the location and found several vehicles parked near the premises.

It said officers then checked several rooms before knocking on the door of one they suspected was occupied, as the air conditioning was still running.

“However, there was no response at first despite the door being knocked several times.

“After nearly five minutes, the door was opened by a man who was wearing only shorts and no shirt,” it said.

JAINJ said a further check inside the room found a woman lying on the bed.

“The officers found a woman sprawled on the bed and asked her to get up. She was wearing sexy sleeveless nightwear with thin shoulder straps.

“Investigations found that both admitted they were not married to each other.

“The woman said she was still married, while the man was single. Both are believed to work in this district,” it said.

JAINJ said the woman also claimed she was facing marital problems and was in the middle of divorce proceedings.

The pair are being investigated under Section 27 of the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1997.

Members of the public with information on breaches of syariah law are urged to pass it to the religious authorities for investigation and further action.
