KUALA LUMPUR - No officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have been identified as being involved in, or summoned to assist with, the corporate crime investigation under Op Viking so far, according to the Home Ministry (KDN).

In a written reply posted on the Parliament portal, the ministry said this was based on the backgrounds and identities of witnesses whose statements had been recorded.

"As of Sept 25, 70 individuals had been summoned to have their statements recorded. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have also detained several individuals, as well as frozen and seized various assets believed to be linked to the activities under investigation.

"The freezing and seizure actions involve eight properties, 11 vehicles, 417 Central Depository System (CDS) accounts, 70 stock trading accounts valued at about RM323.59 million, as well as 404 bank accounts containing about RM85.62 million,” the ministry said.

The reply was in response to a question from Datuk Dr Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (PN-Pengkalan Chepa) on the scope and status of the PDRM investigation into allegations involving a "corporate mafia”, including the possible involvement of MACC officers or personnel from other law enforcement agencies, as well as alleged abuse of power.

KDN said the investigation, codenamed Op Viking, was ongoing as the authorities worked to complete the investigation papers. It added that the PDRM remained committed to conducting the investigation in accordance with the law.

"Under Op Viking, the PDRM Anti-Money Laundering (AMLA) Investigation Team opened an investigation paper on Oct 14, 2025, under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA) [Act 613],” the ministry said. - BERNAMA
