Melaka polls: Adly focuses on enhancing digital education facilities in Bukit Katil
The Amanah vice-president is facing a four-cornered contest against Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Ridzuan Sarif, Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) candidate Dr Aliza Che Amran and independent candidate Abu Bakar Sabudin.

MELAKA - Enhancing digital education facilities is among the key priorities of Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Bukit Katil state seat, Adly Zahari, should he be given the mandate in the 16th Melaka state election.
The incumbent said the effort was important to ensure that the younger generation in the constituency benefited from developments in digital technology, particularly in education, security and economic development.
"If I am given the mandate, my main focus will certainly be to improve digital education facilities for our children in the Bukit Katil state constituency, as well as for our entrepreneurs,” he told reporters after the nomination process at Dewan Tun Ali, Bukit Katil, here today.
The Amanah vice-president is facing a four-cornered contest against Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Ridzuan Sarif, Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) candidate Dr Aliza Che Amran and independent candidate Abu Bakar Sabudin.
Adly, who is also Deputy Defence Minister, said digital education should be given priority, as a digitally literate generation could benefit the education sector while also contributing to stronger economic capabilities now and in the future.
He also said that completing the construction of a polyclinic in the constituency was another matter that needed attention.
"We have already obtained approval from the Ministry of Health (MOH), and we have secured the budget,” he said.
Commenting on the Melaka polls, Adly described the contest as one of the bigger challenges he had faced, with candidates from PN, Bersama and the independent camp also in the running.
However, he said his eight years of service in the Bukit Katil state constituency, including during the 22 months when PH was in government, provided a basis for voters to assess his track record.
"So, we (PH) leave it to the people to assess all the efforts we have made, and we will continue to serve them regardless of the outcome. We will certainly respect whatever decision the people make.”
"However, we are appealing to the people to give us an opportunity to serve for a third term, and we are confident that our achievements will receive the support of voters in the Bukit Katil state constituency,” he said.
In the 15th Melaka state election, Adly secured a majority of 1,057 votes after defeating three other candidates, namely Datuk Hasnoor Sdg Husin of BN, Muhammad Al Afiz Yahya of PN and independent candidate Abdul Hamid.
The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 14 as polling day for the Melaka state election, while early voting will take place on Nov 10. - BERNAMA
