SHAH ALAM – A disabled man and a baby were among three victims placed in a temporary evacuation centre (PPS) after several areas in Kampung Melayu Subang here were hit by floods on Monday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations (JBPM) assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said they received a distress call at about 5.18pm.

"A total of five officers and personnel from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station along with a fire engine were rushed to the scene located seven kilometres away," he said in a statement on Monday.

Ashrul said upon arrival, they found that the affected areas included Lorong Merbau involving approximately 30 houses, Jalan Cengal (seven houses), Jalan Resak (five houses) and Jalan Jati (50 houses).

"Some victims refused to leave their homes despite being instructed to evacuate by the fire brigade.

"A disabled man in his 50s and a baby have been housed at the PPS in Dewan Siantan. Details regarding the third victim have yet to be identified," he added.

Ashrul noted that the water levels at the location were reported to be receding.
