Independent preacher Zamri Vinoth was charged in the Magistrate’s Court today with making statements that sparked provocative debate over religious and racial issues regarding the organisation of a rally in front of a shopping complex in the capital last month. - Photo by Bernama

Zamri, whose full name is Muhammad Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu, arrived at about 9.10am clad in a blue coat after being transported in an SUV.

The media had previously reported that investigations against the independent preacher in connection with his statement at the gathering on Feb 7 had been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).
