The Court of Appeal has fixed August 19 to deliver its decision in an appeal brought by an activist over the dismissal of her lawsuit that had challenged the validity of parts of a provision in the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 that criminalises offensive online comments.

The Federal Court dismissed Mohd Hatta Sanuri’s application for leave to appeal in his bid to reinstate a lawsuit over the cancellation of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail project.

The Attorney General's Chambers emphasised that any attempt to initiate or continue contempt of court (committal) proceedings against Ahmad Terrirudin, while the stay order is still in effect, constitutes a violation of the High Court's order. - File photo
