Segamat was once again hit by a minor earthquake tonight, marking the third incident in the area within a few days.

With ongoing research in earthquake seismology and tectonics, an expert has pointed out that paleoseismic studies conducted by other experts have already demonstrated the capability of local fault lines to produce strong seismic events.

Police have conducted an initial investigation, which included gathering information from the state Department of Mineral and Geoscience (JMG) as well as members of the public who experienced the tremors.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said police are investigating the matter.
