The European Union also sounded the alarm over munitions in the Ukraine conflict -- saying that severe ammunition shortages facing Ukrainian forces had to be overcome within weeks.

Russia's continued attacks on Ukraine

The Ukrainian army's strategic communications department said that nearly 400 soldiers were killed and 300 injured in the strike in Makiivka.
