MetMalaysia has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds for seven states, effective until 4 pm today.

While affecting the Philippines, Typhoon Fung-Wong resulted in 18 fatalities and displaced 1.4 million residents.

MetMalaysian also issued a thunderstorm warning for Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Johor, effective until noon today.

Based on MetMalaysia's observation at 8pm yesterday, the typhoon is moving towards the northwest at a speed of 30 km/h and has a potential maximum speed of 194 km/h.

JMG also noted that yesterday’s tremor was not the first in the area, as a 4.1-magnitude earthquake had previously been recorded nearby, highlighting a recurring pattern of micro-seismic activity along the fault line.

MetMalaysia has issued an alert-level continuous rain warning for Labuan and several areas in Sabah, effective from tomorrow until Nov 5.
