Zahid: Tajuddin removed from Umno Supreme Council for criticising party

SHAH ALAM – Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was removed as Umno Supreme Council Member as he had constantly criticised the party.

Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the remarks were made through statements, speeches, and talks in closed-door meetings that he attended.

Zahid said this at a press conference after launching ‘Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth Job Fair 2022’ at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur today.

However, he refused to share the details on the reason why the Pasir Salak MP was fired.

"It is best to ask him. It would not be fair for me to tell the public about it. He knows what he is doing.

On Thursday, Sinar Harian reported that Tajuddin was removed as Umno Supreme Council Member effective June 21.

Previously, Tajuddin was also dropped as the party’s election director and he was often seen to have conflicting views with the party’s top leadership on several issues, including on the appropriate time for the 15th General Election to be held.

Commenting further, Zahid said the power of the Supreme Council Member appointment was in accordance with the constitution under the power of the party’s president.
