SHAH ALAM – Umno president Zahid Hamidi took a swipe at Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin over his remarks on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's cabinet as "the most disappointing.”

In a Facebook posting on Sunday, Zahid asked Muhyiddin to "stop complaining" and "be a good opposition".

"Muhyiddin and his allies should feel embarrassed as it looks like they are hungry for power, to the extent of disputing the decision made by the Malay rulers.

"They should emulate DAP which has put the nation's interest above individual or parties' interest in efforts to succeed the notion of unity government proposed by Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah," he lambasted.

Zahid also told Muhyiddin and his allies to learn to be a formidable opposition instead of disagreeing with the decision.

"Muhyiddin needs to respect these appointments. This only goes to show Muhyiddin and his allies do not respect the royal institution.

"Accept the reality that you have failed to be the prime minister. Also learn and respect the process as well as the decision made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Malay rulers," he added.

Zahid who is also the Bagan Datuk MP also pointed out Anwar had previously received high accolades from internationally-renowned media including "best finance minister” by the Euro Money magazine and "Asia’s best finance minister” by the Asia Money magazine.

"Anwar was named The Asian of the Year and Malaysia as well as Asian Tiger when he was finance minister. This will surely make foreign investors to be more confident with Anwar being the finance minister, "he added.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin described the unity government's new cabinet line-up as the most disappointing in the nation's history, adding that by appointing kleptocrats into the Cabinet, Anwar has mortgaged the principles of good governance which he promoted during the 15th general election (GE15) campaign.

Muhyiddin was referring to the appointment of Zahid as one of two deputy prime ministers in the unity government. Zahid is also appointed as the rural and regional development minister.
