Crucial for Zahid to remain Umno president to avoid split, political instability

SHAH ALAM - Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is likely to retain his top post due to his leadership and wisdom in leading the party in a unity government.

Umno Pasir Salak deputy head, Khairul Azwan Harun said every Umno member dreams of stability and Umno’s huge role in the government.

"Due to that, the position and leadership of Zahid should be maintained.

"Umno members shouldn’t be trapped in a closed narrative by rival parties like Bersatu and Pas who want Umno to be split,” he said in a statement.

The risk of political instability which could lead to the toppling of unity government should be avoided at all cost and it could take place if there were changes within the Umno leadership.

"The country and rakyat shouldn’t be shackled by political instability as the economy hasn’t fully recovered and the risk of Covid-19 is still at stake,” he said.

"The nation will be leading by the unity government for the next five years and any changes in the leadership that could lead to political instability and toppling of unity government should be avoided,” he added.
