SHAH ALAM - Former DAP publicity secretary Tony Pua's statement calling Barisan Nasional (BN) a corrupt ally will not affect the Unity Government in the state elections.

Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said that the statement was just Pua's personal opinion and did not represent the party's opinion.

"DAP secretary general has made a stance and that stance is the party's stance. It does not affect the state election. He (Pua) is a member... it's normal to give various opinions. There's no problem.

"We in Amanah also have views, but the party's view is what is taken into account," he told the media after the Madani Mega Tour at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam on Saturday.

Pua on Friday called BN, which is now with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Unity Government, a corrupt ally.

In this regard, Pua expressed his hopes that PH will be able to form its own government among the coaltion components without involving Umno and BN if it wins the next general election.

However, DAP secretary general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said that Pua's speech which was offensive to the main coalition partner in the Unity Government should not have been released.

Anthony added that any provocative statement against coalition partners in the government is not in line with the current stance and direction of the party.
