PUTRAJAYA - The opening of PKR’s 17th Annual Congress tonight, began with a reminder for delegates to not emulate the funny merry-go-round proceedings that happened at Pribumi Bersatu’s Annual General Meeting today.

The sneering admonition by party secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail centred on the botched resignation of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Bersatu president, announced yesterday.

"In his policy speech, he announced his resignation. He wanted to step down. Later on, their supreme council convened a special meeting and decided to reject his resignation.

"Today, he announced that he will not be stepping down,” chided Saifuddin in his opening speech at the officiation ceremony of PKR’s two-day congress which will end tomorrow.

Saifuddin underscored that such indecision, must not take place in PKR’s congress, stressing that Bersatu did not even bother to speak on other pertinent national and the people’s issues.

"Our congress must actively discuss about politics, ways to stimulate the economy, focus on welfare and social justice among the people and most importantly practice good governance.

"This congress has two significances; we are approaching our 25th anniversary next year and also today on Nov 25, marks one year of Anwar Ibrahim’s tenure as Prime Minister,” said Saifuddin.
