SHAH ALAM – A Pakistani national attempting to flee the country after allegedly being involved in multiple cases of sodomy and sexual assault against children in this district has been arrested in Durian Burung, Kedah on Tuesday.
Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the 25-year-old prime suspect was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters (IPD).
He said the arrest was made just before the suspect could escape to a neighbouring country.
"Another Pakistani man was also arrested for allegedly helping the main suspect evade police detection.
"Both individuals will be remanded for investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 377C of the Penal Code," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Iqbal also advised parents not to take their children’s safety lightly and to avoid letting them go out alone to secluded areas where they could be vulnerable to crimes by strangers.
He added that anyone with further information about the incidents can contact Investigating Officer, Inspector Siti Mahanira Mahat at 017-6444895.
Earlier, several social media platforms circulated claims that a Pakistani man had allegedly sodomised and molested several boys in the Seksyen 27 and Seksyen 28 areas of Shah Alam.
Sinar previously reported that the suspect was believed to be involved in four separate incidents involving boys aged nine, 13 and 14, as well as a 19-year-old male teenager.
The suspect’s modus operandi included allegedly luring victims by asking them to collect items from a designated location before hugging them from behind and choking them if they resisted.
It was also reported that the suspect would sometimes pretend to ask the victims for help, such as booking an e-hailing ride or asking questions, before punching them and dragging them to a secluded area where the alleged acts took place.
