KUALA LUMPUR – United States (US) President Donald Trump captured widespread attention upon arriving in Malaysia when he spontaneously danced with a group of local traditional dancers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Trump’s arrival was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by a vibrant cultural performance as a gesture of respect for the nation’s guest.
As soon as he stepped off the official Air Force One, a Boeing 747-200B, Trump flashed a broad smile and joined the dancers’ rhythm with a relaxed demeanor.
His spontaneous act drew cheers and enthusiastic applause from the crowd present at the welcoming ceremony.
Trump also took time to greet several Malaysians in attendance before waving the flags of Malaysia and the US as a symbol of friendship between the two nations.
He then engaged warmly with nearby guests before departing in the official limousine, The Beast, alongside Anwar, heading to the venue of the summit.
Trump is in Malaysia to attend the 47th Asean Summit, which takes place over two days starting Sunday, as well as the 13th Asean-US Summit and the 20th East Asia Summit.
His presence in the country is at the official invitation of Anwar, who is the Asean Chair for 2025.
