SHAH ALAM – The current crisis surrounding the national education system does not stem from weaknesses in its structure or policies but rather points to a moral crisis among students.

Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Strategic Director Mohamad Syamil Luthfi Samsul Bahrin said that moral issues require serious attention from all parties, including parents, educators and society as a whole.

He added that two aspects must be considered when assessing the current education scenario the system being implemented and the situation on the ground.

“The roles of parents and educators are crucial in shaping students’ character and development.

“The crisis we see today is more about declining values and morals among students,” he said during the Roundtable Programme: Is Our Education in Crisis? organised by Sinar Harian.

At the same time, Syamil also expressed confidence in the approach taken by the Education Ministry under the leadership of Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, describing it as more organised and consistent.

He noted that the ministry has continued the education plans and policies set by previous administrations.

"However, that does not mean no improvements are being made; rather, continuous interventions are being implemented to strengthen the existing system,” he added.
