SHAH ALAM - If a wedding is a reflection of a couple’s love story, Erra Fazira’s celebration today gleamed with pure romance, a pinch of tradition and just the right amount of luxury sparkle.

Malaysia’s beloved primadonna, 51, married restaurateur Ezwan Zain, 44, in a dreamy garden-themed ceremony at Rinjani Majestic in Subang and let’s just say, the hantaran tray alone could have launched an entire lifestyle editorial.

Guests watched four men carry in a regal tandu, transporting a curated collection of luxury essentials: a sumptuous ring box, a designer handbag, a sleek watch and fine perfumes.

But the true star of the display? A glittering pokok ufti bunga emas - a bouquet made of 102 grammes of pure gold, a nostalgic nod to 14th-century Malay customs.

At today’s gold price (hovering around RM556–RM560 per grammes), the golden bouquet alone is worth around RM56,000.

And then came the moment everyone was waiting for: Ezwan slipping a Cartier ring worth an estimated RM80,000 onto Erra’s finger.

Paired with the bunga emas, the wedding bling makes up a dazzling RM136,000–RM140,000 in symbolic love offerings… and that’s just what we know about.

Ezwan, the man behind a popular Kueh restaurant chain, admitted he loves a good surprise.

He revealed that he had arranged 24 pieces of dinar gold coins inside the bouquet, even though Erra only expected one or two.

“She knew about the dinar, but she didn’t know it would be 24 pieces,” he said with a laugh, adding that the number wasn’t symbolic, he just wanted to round it up to roughly 100 grammes of gold.

Talk about thoughtful and mathematically satisfying.

Erra, glowing in a soft blue Rizman Ruzaini ensemble with makeup by Deqsha, admitted this wedding felt different from her previous ones, mostly because she didn’t have to stress over the planning.

“If the previous weddings were mostly on me, this one… well, he took charge,” she said, smiling at her new husband.

The couple will postpone their honeymoon until after Aidilfitri; Erra has filming and a concert lined up in February, proof that even newlyweds aren’t exempt from Malaysian work schedules.

Their romance first raised eyebrows earlier this year when Erra posted a subtly romantic message to Ezwan on social media, after which fans quickly switched into investigative mode. Today, the speculation ends with a happily-ever-after.

For Erra, this marks her third marriage. She married entrepreneur Engku Emran in 2007 and divorced in 2014, sharing a daughter, Engku Aleesya, now 16.

Earlier, she wed singer-producer Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim in 2003; the marriage ended in 2006.

But today’s wedding had a distinct energy. Softer, calmer and wrapped in gentle sentiment.

Perhaps it’s the gold, the garden theme or simply two people choosing each other at the right time in life.

Whatever it is, love and RM140,000 worth of glitter, looks good on Erra.
