SHAH ALAM - Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad has launched Atlas, a next-generation Shariah-compliant digital banking platform, as part of its strategy to enhance financial inclusion and accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards a digital-first Islamic financial ecosystem.
The platform also reflects the bank’s effort to redefine how customers engage with Islamic financial services in an increasingly digital economy.
The launch, held from April 29 to May 3 at IOI Mall Putrajaya, carries the theme “Your Journey to Better” and introduces a platform designed to integrate financial management with everyday lifestyle needs.
Visitors to the event are able to explore the Atlas Discovery Hub, an interactive showcase highlighting the platform’s capabilities, alongside curated activities focused on enhancing financial literacy and user experience. The introduction of Atlas marks a significant milestone in the bank’s transformation into a digital-first Islamic financial institution.
Since its initial rollout, the platform has already seen encouraging adoption rates, with a growing number of downloads and active users reflecting rising demand for accessible, digital-first banking solutions.
President and chief executive officer Datuk Khairul Kamarudin described Atlas as a key step in the bank’s digitalisation journey.
“Atlas goes beyond a digital banking application. It represents our commitment to reimagine Islamic banking as a seamless, everyday companion that integrates financial management with lifestyle and values.
“Guided by the principle of Amanah, we are entrusted to serve our customers with integrity, transparency and responsibility. Atlas embodies this trust by delivering solutions that are not only innovative, but also aligned with the best interests and long-term well-being of our customers.
“As Malaysia accelerates towards a digital economy, Atlas also plays a critical role in expanding access to inclusive and secure financial services, ensuring no segment of society is left behind in this transformation,” he said.
Atlas is positioned as a fully digital platform that eliminates the need for traditional branch dependency, allowing users to open and manage accounts entirely online. It offers a Syariah-compliant savings solution, supported by a Savings Pouch feature with a profit rate of up to 2.25 per cent per annum.
Beyond core banking services, the platform incorporates features tailored to the lifestyle needs of its users, particularly within the Muslim community. These include access to prayer times, daily supplications, Al-Quran content, ‘kiblat’ direction and mosque locators, reflecting an effort to integrate financial and spiritual elements within a single digital environment.
Future enhancements are also planned, including services such as ‘aqiqah’ and ‘qurban’, as part of the bank’s broader strategy to expand Atlas into a comprehensive ecosystem that supports both financial and religious obligations.
In line with its “banking with purpose” proposition, Atlas introduces a Lifestyle Reward Points system, enabling customers to earn rewards through everyday transactions. This approach aims to transform routine banking activities into a more engaging and value-driven experience.
The platform also improves accessibility to the bank’s Save2Win campaign, allowing customers to participate directly through the application without the need to visit a physical branch. This reflects a broader effort to simplify processes and encourage digital adoption among users.
Bank Muamalat stated that Atlas is aligned with national efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s digital economy, particularly by promoting cashless transactions, improving financial accessibility and supporting underserved segments of society.
Looking ahead, the bank plans to introduce financing and investment solutions within the year, progressively expanding Atlas into a full-service digital financial platform. This is expected to support wealth creation and long-term financial resilience among users.
