PETALING JAYA - Andalusia Travel & Tours Sdn Berhad said its continued public trust and recognition in the Hajj and Umrah industry stems from its longstanding commitment to the principle of ‘amanah’, which the company regards as the core foundation of its operations.

Its director and legal adviser Ida Riswana Idris said the company has prioritised responsibility and care towards pilgrims since its establishment, particularly in ensuring that worshippers are able to focus on their ‘ibadah’ journey without unnecessary concerns.

“Since its establishment, Andalusia has placed strong emphasis on the principle of ‘amanah’, viewing it as the foundation of its services. The company believes that pilgrims performing the Hajj should be given the space to carry out their worship peacefully and without unnecessary worries.

“Because of that responsibility, Andalusia focuses heavily on guiding its customers throughout their ‘ibadah’ journey to ensure it is performed properly and meaningfully.

“This commitment to caring for Duyufurrahman (guests of Allah), as one would care for guests visiting their own home, is regarded as one of the main reasons the company continues to earn public trust,” she told Sinar Daily after the Bisnes Sinar Awards (BISA) 2026 concluded at Royale Chulan Hotel Damansara, here, last night.

Andalusia Travel & Tours Sdn Berhad was named the recipient of the Lifetime Business Achievement Award at the BISA 2026.

Ida said the trust placed in the company has remained particularly meaningful amid challenges faced by the travel and pilgrimage industry in recent years.

She described the Covid-19 pandemic as the most difficult period experienced by the sector, when international borders were shut and travel activities came to a standstill.

“From the perspective of the Hajj and tourism industry, the most difficult period had already occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic, when borders were closed and travel activities came to a complete halt.

“Compared to that crisis, the current geopolitical tensions involving Iran and the Strait of Hormuz have mainly caused temporary disruptions such as flight suspensions and concerns over travel uncertainty,” she said.

Despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, Ida noted that many Malaysian Muslims continue to prioritise fulfilling their religious obligations and remain committed to performing the pilgrimage despite concerns and worries.

She shared that flight operations up to the end of April have proceeded smoothly and although there were some disruptions, they were resolved relatively quickly.

Overall, many pilgrims are still confident and not significantly deterred by potential cost increases or geopolitical developments, as long as flight operations remain safe and reliable.

Ida added that Andalusia is currently managing large groups of pilgrims during the ongoing Hajj season, with more than 500 pilgrims scheduled to perform the pilgrimage this year.

“The company is currently in the midst of the Hajj season, with large groups of pilgrims already gathering in Mecca and Madinah. Andalusia alone has more than 500 pilgrims scheduled to perform the Hajj this year.

“The opportunity to perform the pilgrimage is viewed as a special invitation that should not be wasted by those who receive it,” she said.

Ida also described Andalusia’s receipt of the BISA 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award as recognition of the company’s longstanding dedication to serving pilgrims responsibly.

“This award is seen as reflecting public appreciation for a company that prioritises responsibility, guidance and care in helping pilgrims fulfil their religious obligations,” she said.

The recognition marks another milestone for Andalusia, which previously won the Preferred Umrah and Hajj Agency BISA Award during the inaugural BISA 2023 awards.

BISA 2026 serves as a national business recognition platform celebrating micro, small and medium enterprises, which form a major pillar of Malaysia’s economy.

Organised with the involvement of Sinar Harian, the awards recognise entrepreneurs and organisations that have demonstrated sustainable business growth while contributing to society and the economy.

More than 30 recipients from various sectors were honoured during the ceremony, including five recipients under the Jury’s Choice Award category: Mydin Mohamad Holdings Bhd, Casalwa Holdings, PKNS Bizz Point, Bank Rakyat and Andorra Women and Children Hospital.
