JOHOR BAHRU – Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu has called on the public to continue supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to remain at the helm of the country, stressing that any leadership change should be decided through the next general election.
Mohamad, who is also the Agriculture and Food Security Minister said any intention to replace the Prime Minister must follow the democratic process and should not be rushed outside the electoral mandate.
“If we feel like changing the Prime Minister, at the very least, wait for the next election.
“I, too, would like to become Prime Minister.
“I have hopes, but rather than those hopes being shattered, it’s better that we continue supporting Anwar,” he said at the Pakatan Harapan 2026 Convention at Persada International Convention Centre on Saturday.
Meanwhile, commenting on the Johor state election, he stressed that regardless of which party wins – including Barisan Nasional (BN) – it would not affect federal allocations or efforts for the state.
He said BN would continue to receive equal treatment, as the government does not differentiate between states based on political alignment.
“For agriculture, RM201 million is allocated for Johor. Should we withdraw it? No. The people of Johor are Malaysians. In fact, I have asked the Prime Minister, who is also the Finance Minister, to increase the allocation.
“As minister, I have no intention whatsoever to reduce it,” he added.
