SHAH ALAM – No party has the power to determine the fate of any political party, including United Malays National Organisation (Umno), as everything ultimately depends on the will of the people and the decree of Allah SWT.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said all parties must respect the rights of the people and not act as if they have the authority to decide the political lifespan of any party.
“Want to bury Umno? We should not overstep Allah’s power. Let the people decide, we strive and leave it to Allah.
“If we are talking about burying Umno, then perhaps it is also time for Umno to leave the unity government,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
He was responding to reactions from certain parties following Barisan Nasional’s (BN) announcement that it would contest all State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in Johor in the upcoming state election.
Previously, it was reported that Pakatan Harapan (PH) was determined to “bury” BN in Johor in the next state election after announcing it would contest independently.
PH Johor chairman Aminolhuda Hassan said this was not impossible, as the coalition had previously won up to 38 Johor state seats.
In the same post, Akmal said those parties should instead be happy that they now have the opportunity to contest more seats, as they had previously desired.
“When BN announced it would contest all Johor DUN seats, the ones who got most worked up were them,” he added.
