SEREMBAN - Speculation is rife that the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) will be dissolved on Friday.
According to sources, the decision was agreed upon by Pakatan Harapan (PH) top leadership during a special meeting held at the Menteri Besar's Official Residence last Tuesday.
The meeting was also reported to have settled the seat allocation among PH component parties — 16 seats for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), 11 for DAP and nine for Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).
"Based on the outcome of that meeting, all parties agreed that the DUN should be dissolved on Friday. It has also received the endorsement of the party leadership at the national level.
"It is only subject to the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar (YDPB) of Negeri Sembilan and the agreement of other relevant parties," the source said.
The source further noted that should the DUN not be dissolved on Friday, it would not be because PH had changed its mind or made other decisions out of fear of facing an election, as alleged by some quarters.
Rather, the source said, it would be due to the YDPB's consent not yet being obtained, or other factors.
Nonetheless, PH has already begun groundwork ahead of the state election (PRN), including shortlisting candidates to be considered by the respective party leadership.
"Preparations have already started and each division has been asked to shortlist candidates for evaluation before finalisation.
"But it has been decided that of the 36 DUN seats, PKR will contest 16, DAP 11 and Amanah nine," the source said.
Claims that the Negeri Sembilan DUN will be dissolved on Friday have also begun circulating on social media, though as of now, there has been no official announcement from Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, nor any media conference invitation on the matter.
However, several DAP state assemblymen (ADUNs) contacted by Sinar Harian denied the claims.
Earlier, the media reported that Aminuddin spent nearly two hours in an audience with the YDPB at Istana Hinggap on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters as his vehicle left the palace, a cheerful Aminuddin said his visit was a routine meeting ahead of chairing the State Executive Council (MMKN) meeting.
His vehicle then headed to Wisma Negeri for the MMKN, which was understood to have commenced at around 11am.
Typically, a press conference is held after such meetings by the PH state chairman, but it was abruptly cancelled as he was informed of an urgent matter.
For the record, in the last state election, PH won 17 seats — DAP 11, PKR five, and Amanah one. Barisan Nasional (BN) won 14 seats, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) took five.
