GEORGE TOWN - Penang FC Head Coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail has been rested from managing the team, effective immediately.
Penang FC announced in a statement last night that the decision was made following their 1-2 defeat to Melaka FC in a Super League match at the City Stadium here this afternoon.
"In this regard, Penang FC Technical Director Victor Andrag will take over duties as the team's Head Coach, effective immediatey,” according to the statement uploaded via the club's official Facebook page.
The Harimau Kumbang squad's performance has looked lacklustre this season, sitting at 11th place in the league after playing six matches and collecting four points from one win and one draw.
In the match, Penang FC suffered their fourth defeat of the season despite opening the scoring first through a penalty kick by team captain Stefano Brundo in the 62nd minute.
However, defensive lapses by the hosts allowed Melaka FC midfielder Dino Kalesic to equalize in the 72nd minute before Abdel Kader Coulibaly converted a penalty kick in the dying minutes of the game to ensure the Hang Tuah squad took home all three points.
Wan Rohaimi, 50, was appointed as Penang FC's Head Coach in November 2024. -BERNAMA
