Fashion designers rally to help flood victims
The last two weeks of 2021 took a devastating turn when weather conditions wreaked havoc across several states, resulting in disastrous floods. But the silver lining behind the disaster was seeing Malaysians from all backgrounds helping each other out.
Many lost their homes and some others tragically lost their loved ones. In the wake of the catastrophe, some Malaysian fashion designers and brands have offered support by reaching out to those in need through their social media platforms, and others even went on ground to help victims. The son-in-law of the Prime Minister may have found himself on the receiving end of criticism when netizens claimed he fled the flood with a government chopper, but the fashion designer did his part for the flood victims by actively rallying on social media for support, helping those affected in areas of Hulu Langat. He also initiated a Telegram group called JM X VELO Flood Relief telegram group to provide information for volunteers.
The designer who is also the president of the Malaysian Official Designers Association appealed on Instagram to ask for donations such as cash or items like cash, drypers, blankets and more. She has put up flood relief information on her Instagram page for those who still want to help flood victims.

This Malaysian contemporary brand founded by sisters have initiated a fundraiser to provide aid to flood victims. They are calling for help to donate cash in amounts of RM30, RM50 or RM100. According to Mimpikita, the donations will be given to certified non-government organisations (NGOs) and will be distributed to those affected.
