Sadaqah (donating) is a noble practice and is highly sought after in Islam as it is closely related to the faith of an individual.

The best type sadaqah is when we give valuable items that are still new to the people in need.

Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) Economics and Muamalat senior lecturer Dr Mohd Faisol Ibrahim said the difference between those who spend their money in the path of Allah AWT is equivalent to a seed that has grown into a tree with seven branches, and in each of these branches contains a 100 more seeds in it.

As cited in Al- Baqarah, verse 261: “Allah multiplies (the reward) for whom He wills. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing”.

Mohd Faisol said sadaqah can also be done in various forms such as donating the Quran, cash, clothes and even something as simple as a smile.

“It is not only limited to cash and materials but also in the form of actions,” he said Sinar Islam Plus.

He also said the best time to give sadaqah was at dawn, either before or after performing the subuh prayer. “A Muslim should start his day with a good deed, and that is sadaqah.

“Sadaqah performed at dawn is the best time. However, giving sadaqah at the different hours of the day is still very much considered a noble act.

Mohd Faisol said as reported Abu Hurairah, Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “There is not a day upon which the servant awakens but that two angels descend. One of them says: O Allah, repay one who spends in charity! The other says: O Allah, give destruction to one who withholds charity.” (Hadith narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).

Mohd Faisol cited a way Muslims could practice this daily.

He said when a person wakes up for subuh prayers, they should insert RM20 into a special money box at home his intentions and prayers to Allah SWT,” he added.
