SHAH ALAM - The upcoming state elections will be a field for the people to evaluate and make the best decision whether they want a coalition of the same parties in the central government or vice versa.

Selangor Pas secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir found that granting Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) victory would mean that the people accepted their failures and weaknesses at the federal level.

He said this was the best opportunity for the people especially in the six states namely Kelantan, Kedah, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang and Terengganu to assess and make the best decision.

"Under a circumstance where the federal government has failed to provide the best solution for the people even though six months have passed since they formed the government.

"The people in these six states have to decide whether it is appropriate for the federal government and the state governments to come from the same party coalition or, in the current state, it is more appropriate for them to come from a coalition of different parties so that there is a check and balance.

"Let these six state governments monitor the progress of the federal government so that they return to focusing on the development of the people and the country, or if they failed, it would also signal the people to replace them," he said on Facebook.

In the meantime, Roslan said that the people could see for themselves several economic indicators including stocks performance and the ringgit collapse which signalled how weak and a failure the government was.

"We haven't talked about the rising price of domestic goods including foods, eggs, cooking oil, vegetables and chicken," he said.

He also questioned what the people should do to deal with a weak and failed government.

"This is the time for us to bring about a check and balance. The federal government needs to be monitored by active and energetic state governments supported by the people.

"Hence, the 15th state polls for these six states are the best platform for the people to take an initiative to demand change by democracy.

"Make sure that PH-BN which failed at the federal level is not given power in any of the six states that will hold the election," he said.
