Johor polls: EC to announce SOPs before nomination

JOHOR BAHRU - The standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Johor state election are currently being finalised and will be announced before the nomination day, the Election Commission (EC) said today.

EC’s corporate communications head Mohammad Azlan Charles Abdullah said the commission would announce the SOPs through a media statement after obtaining approval from the Health Ministry and the National Security Council.

He said this to reporters after a briefing session for media practitioners in conjunction with the Johor state election here.

Meanwhile, he said the briefing session was held to ensure smooth coverage throughout the election period.

"We share with the media what can and cannot be done during the coverage but the SOPs have not been issued yet...we are still waiting,” he said.

The EC has set March 12 as polling day for the Johor state election while the nomination on Feb 26 and early voting on March 8. - BERNAMA
