SHAH ALAM - Two first time voters described their voting experience as exciting and nervous at the same time.

Aisyah Humairah, 22, who shared her experience with Sinar Daily said she came all the way from Melaka to vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang Renggam voting centre for the sake of the country’s future.

She said the voting process was quite smooth and it took her not more than five minutes to cast her vote.

This, she said was due to the efficiency of the volunteers at the voting centre.

“I am excited, but also nervous (to vote for the first time),” she said.

Meanwhile, 28-year old Muhammad Lokman said he should have went out and vote a long time ago for the sake of the country.

He said he had also participated in the Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) efforts.

“At 28, I believe it is time for me to carry out my duty to vote.

“I should have voted a long time ago. We have no idea what is going to happen to the economy, so I must vote for the sake of the future,” he said.

He added that many of his friends who came out to vote today were also first time voters.

There were more senior citizens above the age of 40 present at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Simpang Renggam voting centre compared to young voters.

As at 11am, the voter turnout for the Johor polls was at 22 per cent.
