PUTRAJAYA - Perikatan Nasional (PN) is currently in 'panic mode' up to the point that they resorted to racial sentiments for the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) communications director Fahmi Fadzil said that PN leaders were out of ideas and immature in politics.

"Don't use the issues of racism and play racial sentiments like this because it will work as a double-edged sword.

“How many Pas leaders have sent their children to a Chinese school? I understood that even the grandchild of Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang was also sent to a Chinese school.

"This is an important warning because Malaysia is a moderate and centrist country. We should not go overboard, so when issues like vernacular schools and racialism are played, it reflects immature politics," he said in a press conference after inaugurating the PH office here yesterday.

Asked about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's alleged boycott of the KKB by-election, he said that the Prime Minister himself signed PH's nomination papers.

However, he pointed out the difference with PN, where Pas leadership is seen boycotting the party's candidate when they still do not actively campaign, even though it has been five days.

"It is clear that, until today, not a single Pas leader has campaigned for PN in KKB.

"I was informed yesterday that Pas secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, was supposed to campaign, but he was not seen. Clearly, there is worry and disappointment on the face of Perikatan Nasional (PN) Selangor chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali," he said.
