SHAH ALAM - Former Pandan lawmaker and PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli have decided to reenter PKR in order to rebuild public support for the party.

In a live session dubbed “Terus Terang: Edisi Terpaling 2022” streamed on his social media last night, the 44-year-old explained that he was concerned over PH losing public support overall.

"PH is in a critical situation where they are losing most of the supporters, especially with 'fence-sitters'. Even though I am not interested in politics, I still have to perform my role to contribute to the party,'' he said.

Rafizi also stated that he had decided to take a step back from politics as he thought he had done his part when PH was at its peak.

“I thought I have done my responsibilities a few years back when PH won GE14. I then return to my normal life to focus on family and my corporate work,” he said.

Rafizi also denied the assertions that he was "sulking" due to some unresolved issues in the past but stressed that he wanted to pursue other interests.

Rafizi Ramli also stated that he joined PH because he prefers the idea of a multiracial coalition that focuses on the concerns of the people and that the coalition has been consistent in pushing for these ideas.

“There was a formula when we won GE14. We need to emphasize on public’s issues that they have been facing. We need to listen to them, stay close to them, and tried to solve the issues.

"To say that we won GE14 because of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is completely inaccurate so we need to return back to this formula,” he said, referring to Bersatu's former chairman that joined forces with PH for the 2018 election.

Also present during the session was Pematang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar who acknowledge a lack of communication between PKR and the public.

“The party is losing because there is a lack of communication. There is no interaction between the party and the public. That could be one of the reasons why the party is losing support,” she said.

Both Nurul Izzah and Rafizi agreed that they need to strengthen the party's foundation and create a better narrative in preparation for GE15.
