Selangor provides 11,967 Ramadhan Bazaar plots, this year

SHAH ALAM - The Selangor government through 12 local authorities (PBT) have decided to offer 11,967 Ramadhan Bazaar plots in 238 locations, this year.

State executive councillor Ng Sze Han said the decision was made after considering the seriousness of the spread of the Covid-19 Omicron variant in the country since early this year.

“As of now, the PBT has received a total of 10,783 applications, 9,720 of which have already been approved.

“Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) recorded the highest number of applications with 2,219 followed by Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) with 1,790 and Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) with 1,031,” he said in the statement, today.

He added that five PBTs have completed processing applications from the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), Sepang Municipal Council (MPSp), Sabak Bernam District Council and Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL).

However, there were three PBTs that received applications more than the number of the plots offered such as the MPKj, where there were 1,790 applicants compared to 1,780 plots offered and in Selayang, 2,219 applications were received but there were only 1,782 plots offered.

In Sepang, 622 applications were received while there were only 541 plots offered.

He said the state government has urged traders who did not get a plot in the areas they had applied for, to immediately make an application to the PBTs in other areas with available plots such as the Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Ampang Jaya, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor city councils.

“The state government strongly encourages business activities in the Ramadhan Bazaars to run in line with the government’s hope to generate and revive the economy after the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.

Ng also reminded traders and customers to adhere to the standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry and National Security Council to curb the spread of the virus and reminded traders to dispose used cooking oils into the barrels provided.

As of now, he said, the SOP for 2021 can be implemented at the Ramadan Bazaar, this year.
