SHAH ALAM-The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has started taking stern action against Al-Quran and Fardu Ain class (Kafa) teachers in the state who refused to take the Covid-19 vaccine by suspending their duties for two months.

JAIS director, Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said, if the relevant individuals do not complete two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine during their suspension period, their services can be immediately terminated.

According to him, the action was made based on the directive issued by his department in accordance with the decree by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah who also reminded mosque officials and marriage officials that they will be facing the same circumstances if they refused to be vaccinated.

“This is an old issue regarding his Majesty's order that Kafa teachers must take the vaccine. JAIS also issued a circular on the matter. We have given them many chances but they refused to adhere to it.

“So, their service will be suspended for two months,” he told Sinar Harian on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mohd Shahzihan said, the suspension period is an opportunity given to the Kafa teachers to complete the dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

However, there are some parties who refuse to comply with the directives set at the Selangor state level and only follow the instructions from the Federal government.

“So, this is not good because perhaps JAIS is too easy on them on this matter.
