Cops bust biggest drug syndicate in Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU - Police believe that they have crippled the largest drug syndicate in Terengganu following the death of two suspects in a shooting incident in Kampung Wakaf Beruas, here, on Tuesday.
Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa said the two suspects were known as Pendi Buaya, 25, from Kuala Terengganu and Nuar Taman, 29, from Marang.
He said police also seized two pistols, ammunition, 20 packets of syabu weighing more than 1,000 grammes and 14 small bottles of heroin weighing more than 67 grammes in the suspect's car.
"Both suspects have 11 and eight previous criminal records respectively and have been active in drug trafficking in most parts of Terengganu, namely Marang, Hulu Terengganu, Besut and in Felda areas for the past 10 years.
"Besides that, they were also involved in drug trafficking activities in several other states including Selangor," he said in a press conference, here, on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Rohaimi said the two were the main suspects in a shooting case of a man in Kampung Pasir Tinggi, Hulu Terengganu, on March 5.
He added that investigations revealed that the cause of death of the man was also related to drug dealing.
