SHAH ALAM – The first Consultative Council on Foreign Policy (CCFP) meeting held yesterday, focused on discussions on effectiveness of humanitarian aid, promoting culture and food security issues.

Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah said in the meeting, members of the CCFP have discussed and refined several issues that have direct benefits to Malaysia and the ministry such as the conflict in Ukraine and Russia.

“Proposals were made to increase the effectiveness of humanitarian aid, initiatives to promote language and culture diplomacy, as well as food security issues.

“Apart from that, Malaysian Youth Council president Mohd Izzat Afifi Abd Hamid was appointed as the new member of CCFP.

"The appointment was made due to his contribution towards a pragmatic foreign policy-making process and the resilience in facing current challenges despite representing the voice of the youth,” he said in a statement, today.

The hybrid meeting was held yesterday in which nine of its members were present physically while six other members participated in the discussion virtually.

Also present were the ministry's deputy secretary-general (Bilateral Affairs) Datuk Amran Mohamed Zin and deputy secretary-general (Multilateral Affairs) Datuk Cheong Loon Lai who attended the meeting as ad-hoc members to discuss the related issues with CCFP members.
