What’s a joyous Raya celebration without some decadent treats – particularly yummy Raya cookies (kuih raya)?

Traditional ones such as “semperit”, sugee biscuit, pineapple tarts, are the usual suspects that make its appearance every Raya but you also have the classic chocolate chip cookies, makmur and bangkit decorated in jars waiting to be devoured by guests.

Over the years, many classic Raya cookies have been given a modern twist, with flavours cookies like Red Velvet semperit, or bangkit cookies infused with cheese bits.

The Sinar Daily team recently sat down to do a taste test – to see which Raya favourites wins their heart.

For the classic ones, we had with us some pineapple tarts, semperit and dahlia biscuits.

As for the modern ones, there were strawberry infused dahlia, chocolate nestum sqauares and dahlia cheese biscuits with cheese bits.

There are far more modern selections in the market, but we have narrowed it down to this.
