SHAH ALAM – After two days of ongoing search and rescue mission (SAR), the body of a man who reportedly jumped off the Banting bridge was found by the Fire and Rescue Department today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the body was found at 1.14pm today, about 1 kilometre away from the bridge where he was last seen.

“The body of the 20-year-old man was handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement.

The department had initially received a report on the incident at 10.58pm on Friday.

The police had informed them that a man was suspected of having jumped off the Banting bridge based on the discovery of a phone and slipper which were found in the victim’s car.

Norazam said seven firemen from Banting station were deployed to the scene.

“The SAR mission continued at 9am on Saturday using two boats, and the search was made along the Kuala Langat riverbank towards Bukit Canggang, about five kilometres from where the victim had jumped,” he said.

The SAR was called off at 6pm yesterday and resumed earlier today when the SAR team discovered the body.
