Missing septuagenarian found dead in drain near her house

SHAH ALAM - A 79-year woman who was reported to have gone missing since yesterday was found dead in a drain near her house, in Kampung Tebuk Berihun, Sabak Bernam, today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the body was discovered inside the drain which was located about 200 metres from the victim's house.

He said the department received a distress call about the incident at about 9.20am, today.

A total of six fire and rescue personnel from the Sabak Bernam fire station were deployed to the scene after receiving a call on the discovery of the body, he added.

“The victim, identified as Masriah Saaludin was found dead in a drain 200 metres away from her house.

"The senior operations commander received a call from the police that the victim had went missing from her house since yesterday (Saturday) evening," Norazam said in a statement, today.

The body of the victim, he said has been handed over to the police for further action.
