Pas tells Zahid to focus on rakyat, stop 'politicking'

SHAH ALAM - Pas information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin has urged for Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to stop 'politicking' and instead focus on resolving the issues currently faced by the people.

He said as an experienced leader of a major Malay party, the president should be working together with the government for the wellbeing of the people and not putting his own interests first.

"The reason Pas supports the government today is to ensure that the welfare of the people is being taken care of and the country's current administration would be better than the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

"Don't drag the people into the conflict to fight over power in the party. Just like the Umno president who wants to postpone the party (Umno) election for the sake of the party's unity and stability, it is also the government's wish to put the country's stability as the top priority," he said on his Facebook on Sunday.

Elaborating further, Kharil Nizam said the main problem facing the country today is the economic crisis where rising inflation is making the people feel suffocated, especially the low-income group.

He said Ahmad Zahid needed to give unconditional support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for both the latter and his Cabinet to be able to restore the country and bring it to a higher level.

"Ahmad Zahid should focus on moving Umno's machinery with the Prime Minister and the government to resolve issues of the people especially on the country's economy, which is currently in crisis.

"I would like to urge all members of the Umno supreme council to advise their president who often pressures the Prime Minister to expedite the 15th General Election (GE15).

"Don't destroy the trust given by the people and other parties in government just to save yourself," he said.
