TASEK GELUGOR - Ex-Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad has said he may contest in Tasek Gelugor parliamentary seat if he is needed by the rakyat.

Earlier today, the present Tasek Gelugor MP and former Penang Bersatu chairman Shabudin Yahya had said he will not be contesting in GE15.

As for now, Dzulkifli said he would continue to do welfare work at the parliamentary constituency.

"If I join any political party, I would inform as there is nothing to hide.

"However, my entry into politics will be decided only if the people of Tasek Gelugor want me, that is crucial," he said when met after attending a programme organised by his office in Pokok Sena, here on Sunday.

But Dzulkifli said Tasek Gelugor is his hometown and he is hoping to ease the rakyat's burden through community work and would continue to do so even if he is not contesting.

“I don’t need approval from any political party to do charity work here, after all, what I do is on a small-scale basis to ease their community's burden.

During the event, Dzulkifli distributed 1.5 tonnes of fish wrapped in plastic weighing more than one kilogram (kg) to locals, including road users in the area.
