TAIPEI - A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Hualien County in eastern Taiwan at 9.05am, today, shaking most of the island, Central news agency (CNA) reported.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located 37.7 kilometers south-southwest of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 6.8 km, the bureau's Seismology Centre said.

The earthquake's intensity, which gauges the actual effect of a temblor, was highest in Huailen County, where it measured 5-weak on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale, CWB data showed. - Bernama
