Don't be a hypocrite, his own clothes are expensive - Nazri to Fahmi

Nazri also advised Fahmi to look at his own wardrobe as well because the PKR leader's clothes were not cheap and branded.

"If we look at his clothes, it is not bad. If we look at his suit in Parliament, his shoes and watch are something else, and that's just his first term as an Member of Parliament.

"For the Prime Minister to wear expensive or branded clothes is nothing strange because based on my experience as a previous minister, many people give them clothes and other expensive branded clothes and items.

"Fahmi can ask his boss, Anwar Ibrahim when he was the deputy prime minister, who was gifted with expensive and branded items including shirts, and note that this was when he was not yet the Prime Minister.

"So when people give gifts, we have to wear them as a sign that we appreciate people's gifts, not keep them in the closet," he told Astro Awani.

Commenting further, Nazri said he found it strange that Fahmi liked to criticise other people's belongings.

He explained that Fahmi had previously criticised his actions in sending his son to study abroad in Paris.

"What's wrong with him? Before this he criticised me for sending my son to study in Paris, where I didn't use his money, I didn't use government money, I used my own money.

"Why is he so busy with other people's things? Why isn't the time spent on the value of other people's clothes used to help the people together?" he added.

Nazri said this when commenting on Fahmi's critics of the branded short-sleeved shirt estimated to be worth RM6,900 worn by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He was also confident that the people did not care about the price of the Prime Minister's clothes because what was important was the efforts made to help ease the cost of living burden. - AWANI
