KUALA LUMPUR - The proposed Housewives’ Social Security Act tabled at the Parliament for first reading today seeks to provide health, safety, welfare and well-being for insured housewives.

The bill states that housewives who contribute to the scheme are entitled to disability benefits such as medical, permanent disablement, survivor’s pension and funeral benefits.

The bill, among others, proposes that the maximum amount for a permanent disability benefit is RM30,000.

Insured housewives who contribute will continue to be covered after the divorce or the death of the husband.
